HeArtBox

HeArtBox is being developed as a vibrant and inclusive cultural center in the heart of Lillehammer for children, young adults – and their families.
A creative powerhouse with professionally led activities and performances, offers on children and young people’s terms, inspiring events and concerts, and extended opening hours adapted to the needs of the city and its users.

HeArtBox will be furnished with several different rehearsal rooms and halls with facilities for theater, music and dance.
The large concert hall in the middle of the building will also serve as a large stage and rehearsal hall for many different actors during the day and evening.
The rehearsal rooms will be available both for permanent tenants and for actors who rent for shorter periods to develop their productions, talents, friendships and creative abilities.

The heart of HeArtBox will be a fantastic stage equipped with facilities for both rehearsals and concerts.
With capacity for up to 700 spectators, HeArtBox will be an attractive city stage for Lillehammer and the surrounding area.
The concert hall will be used by both permanent and temporary tenants – and for concerts by bands visiting Lillehammer.

Kulturhjertehuset will be the venue for a number of festivals and events throughout the year – hosted by both permanent and temporary tenants.
The premises include both large common areas and smaller rooms – as well as a lounge, bar and spacious kitchen.

At HeArtBox, we set the bar high – both for ourselves, facilities and props for the performances.
We are therefore planning for a sewing room, workshop, warehouse and offices.

A heart has many chambers – and of course so does HeArtBox!
By gathering many creative leisure activities under one roof in central Lillehammer, we will create a larger environment for children and young people in a creative powerhouse that is open every weekday evening and many weekends and holidays.

Children, young adults and students in Lillehammer are all looking for the same thing: Places to hang out, meet others and do things together.
With careful facilitation and adult supervision.
HeArtBox is furnished with a lounge, a large gaming area, a VR room and a bar with a kitchen.
In an open common area surrounded by many activities and offers throughout the week.

HeArtBox will be a unique arena for Lillehammer – creating more activity, more ripple effects and more community than each individual player can manage alone in scattered locations.

For the international city of culture and freedom of expression Lillehammer, HeArtBox will be an important arena and beacon for cultural investment with very large and positive effects for the city, region, residents and visitors.

Homework help with a hot meal one or two afternoons a week is another possibility – preferably partly run by parents who thus gain a (multi)cultural network.
Now that HeArtBox is a reality, we’re sure to fill it with life and creative community!

In HeArtBox there will be tasks and activities for both children and parents. While the children meet each other and professional instructors, the parents are both welcome and necessary to get the costumes and scenography in place for the performances.

During the day, Kulturhjertehuset will fulfill the role of creative cultural hub for professionals in creative industries: Producers, organizers, sewers, carpenters, etc.
Such a HUB with a lot of knowledge, networks and potential customers and partners under one roof will also be an important resource and springboard for adult contributors who want to establish themselves as entrepreneurs with a foot in the cultural sector.
